Comprehensive commentary on Megillas Koheles based on profound explanations and secrets of Torah by Harav Moshe Galanty, author of Responsa of Maharam Galanty.

The Beis Yosef appointed him Rosh Yeshivah in Tzfas, and the Arizal’s disciples describe him as a “Sacred [man] who conducts himself in piety and inspires the nation to repentance… l.”

First Publishing House in Tzfas

[Items 105-108]

2nd Book Ever Printed in Asia!

The first publishing house in Eretz Yisrael and the Asian continent was founded in Tzfas in 1577 by Rabbi Eliezer Ashkenazy. During this period, the publishing house published only 6 books, the first being Lekach Tov and the second, the Kehillas Yaakov presented here.

The founding of a publishing house in Tzfas during this era was nothing short of a miracle in light of the dire economic situation plaguing the Jewish residents of the Holy Land, and the Galilee in particular. Indeed, the Jewish settlement could not support it for long, and the press closed only a decade later in 1587.

It wasn’t until close to three centuries later, in 1832, that the Tzfas publishing house was revived. Yet once again, it wasn’t destined to survive for long, as it was destroyed in the earthquake of 1837 that devastated the Jewish settlement in Tzfas and much of the Galilee.

Kehillas Yaakov is the 2nd book ever printed in the Asian continent!
