"Bestow Upon him an Abundance of Blessing, Success, and a Bountiful Livelihood"
Letter Filled with Blessings for Parnassah from the Kedushas Yom Tov
Sighet, 1900
A letter of blessing for livelihood from the saintly Admor Rabbi Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Teitelbaum, Av Beis Din of Sighet, author of ‘Kedushas Yom Tov’, son of the saintly Rebbe, author of ‘Yitav Lev’.
In the letter, the Rebbe showers fervent brachos for parnassah:
"And Hashem shall cast down and overcome anyone who wishes to harm your parnassah and he shall not be able to destroy…and you shall be elevated higher and higher with an abundance of blessing and success and parnassah in great expansiveness."
The concluding lines are in the Rebbe’s holy handwriting:
"The words of one who awaits Hashem’s salvation speedily and seeks your welfare with love, Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Teitelbaum."
Rabbi Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Teitelbaum (1836-1904)
was Av Beis Din of Sighet, son and successor of the Yitav Lev, and father of the holy brothers Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Teitelbaum, author of ‘Atzei Chaim’ and of Rabbi Yoel of Satmar. He was one of the leading rabbinical leaders of Hungary and fought zealously against assimilation. He taught Torah to thousands and many Rabbanim sought his advice. He authored ‘Kedushas Yom Tov’ on the Torah and festivals and his halachic responsa were printed at the end of ‘Shu"t Divrei Yoel’.
The Wealthy Man Who Prospered from the Blessing of the Kedushas Yom Tov
The recipient of the letter was the distinguished and wealthy man Rabbi Yaakov Getherer of Mihalyfalva. He was born in 1867 in the town of Ispanmezo, near Bethlen, in the Transylvania region, to his father Rabbi Yitzchok Boruch Getherer, one of Mihalyfalva’s important community members, and to his mother Mrs. Yehudis.
In the winter of 1893, he got married in the city of Mihalyfalva. His wife was Sarah, daughter of the chassid Rabbi Yosef Elya Rosenberg of that city, who was the son of Rabbi Tzvi Rosenberg, the first Rav of Mihalyfalva. Rabbi Yaakov continued to live there after his marriage.
Rabbi Yaakov’s brother was Rabbi Pinchas Getherer who taught Torah and headed a yeshiva in the city of Huniad. He was a chassid of the holy Rebbes of Shinova and Nasaud, and authored the sefer ‘Divrei Pinchas’.
Rabbi Yaakov became wealthy through the blessing of the Kedushas Yom Tov, and his name appears in several lists of subscribers who donated to the printing of seforim, including: ‘Tehillim Imros Tehoros’, ‘Beis Naftali’ and ‘Imrei Yehuda’. He was a generous supporter of Torah scholars and tzaddikim and humbled himself before them.
