Beautiful Silver Tobacco Box, Jerusalem, 1919
A fine Polish tobacco box featuring delicate and high-quality engraving of Jerusalem with the Western Wall and the Temple site within a large and broad medallion. Above the engraving of the city is an inscription of the verse (Psalms 122:2), "Our feet were standing within your gates", and beneath it in larger letters "Jerusalem". Below the medallion is inscribed "Year עטר"ת" (referring to the Hebrew year תרע"ט, 1918-1919) and is surrounded by pretty decorations.

Stamped with a Warsaw hallmark, see TARDY page 330, and a maker’s mark PŁ.

A beautifully engraved piece.

Size: 9.3 cm long, 7.7 cm wide, 1.2 depth.
