Huge Collection of Invitations to Celebrations and Events 
 
A very extensive collection including over 230 printed letters and invitation cards for various celebrations and public events from Yerushalayim of Old 1890-1933, many of them printed in beautiful colors and decorations.
The collection contains invitations to weddings of the children of Yerushalayim’s leading Rabbanim and Rebbes; cornerstone laying ceremonies and Chanukas Habayis of the city’s prominent yeshivos and shuls, celebrations for the completion of Sifrei Torah, receptions, induction of Rabbanim and other public events.
 
The invitations before us constitute authentic historical documentation – unique in scope – for the history of Jewish life in Jerusalem, their institutions and their family relationships.
 
Many of them are unknown and undocumented!
 
The invitations were sent over decades, starting from the years 1890 – the time of the of Rabbi Shmuel Salant – the legendary rabbi of the city, until the year 1933 (most of them between the years 1890-1920).
The collection contains:
[90] Invitations to weddings and other simchos.
[39] Invitations to Hanochas Even Hapina and Chanukas Habayis.
[12] Invitations to celebrations for Hachnosas Sefer Torahs.
[14] Invitations to receptions.
[74] Invitations to public events and coronations of Rabbonim.
 
Content highlights:
IInvitations to weddings from the immediate family of the giants of Jerusalem), among them: Rabbi Shmuel Salant, the Aderet, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld, Rabbi Itzla Blazer, Rabbi Avrohom Yitzchok Hacohen Kook, Rabbi Shaul Chaim Halevi Horowitz (for his step-son’s wedding; with his handwritten dedication), the Admor of Boston (for his daughter’s wedding with the Admor of Stretin; Boston 1920), and many more.
Invitations for the Hanochas Even Hapina [groundbreaking ceremony] of the famous ‘Zichron Moshe Shtiblach ‘; the Diskin Orphanage; and the Shaarei Chesed neighborhood;
Invitations for Hachnosas sefer Torah at the home of Rabbi Shmuel Salant and the Aderet (1903);
Invitation to the coronation of Rabbi Tzvi Pesach Frank as Rabbi of Jerusalem;
 An invitation from the Committee for the supply of kosher food to the army from their Ashkenazi brothers (1910), and more.
Invitations to the reception ceremonies:
 The arrival of the Aderet in Jerusalem, 1901;
 The arrival of Rabbi Itzla Belazar in Jerusalem, 1904;
The arrival of Rabbi Kook in Jaffa in 1904.
 
Jerusalem (individual items from other places).
A total of about [230] invitations from the early 1900s. In addition, there are [33] invitations from the 1940s and 1950s.
Many of the invitations still have their original envelopes.
Good overall condition, defects on individual pages, fold marks. In relation to the years and such a large scope – the collection is preserved in excellent condition.
 
Provenance: Archive of the recipient of the invitations Rabbi Yechiel Michal Tykochinsky [1872-1955] – one of the majestic figures of Jerusalem, head of the ‘Etz Chaim’ institutions and advocated for the public faithfully for decades. He was one of the closest to Rabbi Shmuel Salant in his last years, and married his granddaughter.
