Passport of Rabbi Yehuda Fetaya, the famed mekubal, used by him when he moved to Eretz Yisrael, complete with his full signature: ‘the young, Yehuda Moshe Yehoshua Fetaya, may Hashem guard me and grant me life’.
 
The passport includes a picture of Rabbi Yehuda and his wife, the Rebbetzin Rachel, as well as a fingerprint signature.
Issued in Baghdad, the passport was signed by the British and French consulates of Baghdad, and the border officials in Baghdad, Syria, Lebanon and Israel, highlighting the path of Rabbi Yehuda’s historic journey.
 
Rav Yehuda Fetaya zt”l (1859-1942) was a holy ga’on and mekubal. Born in Baghdad, he moved with his wife to live permanently in Eretz Yisrael in 1934. An exceptionally holy man, he was among the greatest mekubalim in recent generations, and had a wondrous and unique character. He was known for healing the sick, giving life to the broken-hearted, His main reputation was gained through his writing of amulets, he also dealt with gilgulim of neshamos and removing she’dim as recorded in ‘Sefer Ruchos Mesapros.’
His contribution in Kabbala through his sefarim is immense, they include ‘Beis Lechem Yehuda, an encompassing explanation of the Eitz Hachaim by Rabbi Chaim Vital, a sefer constantly used by Mekubalim, as well as ‘Minchas Yehuda, ‘Matok Lanefesh’ and many others.
