Letter of Blessing by the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Yeshaya of Chechov Hy”d,
Youngest Son of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz.

Cracow, undated

“May the merit of my master, my father and teacher, the holy genius, author of the Divrei Chaim ztvk”l of Sanz safeguard you so you will be blessed with a Kesivah vaChasima tovah.”

Letter of thanks and blessing signed by the holy hand of the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Yeshaya of Chechov Hy”d. The letter is replete with blessings, yet the most stirring are the words
“May the merit of my master, my father and teacher, the holy genius, author of the Divrei Chaim ztvk”l of Sanz safeguard you so you will be blessed, inscribed and stamped for goodness.”
Born to his father in his latter years, the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Yeshaya of Chechov Hy”d (1864-1943) was the youngest son of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. His father attested upon the infant that “he has a sacred soul.” The Admor Rabbi Yehoshua of Belz once expressed “We have no concept [of the level of] sanctity in which the holy Admor of Sanz bore his children, and especially those born during his later years.”
Rabbi Yeshayale, as he was known, was orphaned at the age of 12 and raised in the homes of his elder brothers, the Admorim Rabbi Yechezkel of Shinova, Rabbi Baruch of Gorlitz and Rabbi Dovid of Kashanov. After his marriage to the daughter of the Admor Rabbi Yechiel of Karilowitz, he became a close disciple of his wife’s grandfather Rabbi Yehoshua of Belz.
At the age of 19, he was appointed Rabbi of Chechov and was later called by the name of the town, even though he settled in Cracow only ten years later in 1893. His Court encompassed thousands of chassidim, and he was said to bear a close resemblance to his father in conduct, character and leadership. On 3 Elul, 5703 (1943), he was murdered by the Nazi beasts while bedecked in his tallis. (Rabbeinu Hakadosh MiSanz Vol. 2 Ch. 25; Encyclopedia L’Chassidus Vol. 2 p. 412)
