The margin of the title page features the autograph of Rabbi Avraham Amigo (circa 1610-1683) who was one of the venerable sages of Yerushalayim of old, a pious and righteous Kabbalist and revered halachic authority whose rulings are cited in the Pri Chadash. He was venerated by the greatest Sephardic sages; Maharam Ben Chaviv referred to him as “Gadol doreinu, the greatest of our generation” (Ezras Nashim p. 61) and Rabbi Moshe Chagiz called him “A minister and sage in Yisrael, ” (Shu”t Shtei Halechem Ch. 42). He spearheaded the movement to expel Shabsai Tzvi from Yerushalayim in 1664, and a collection of his novellae was published as Chiddushei Rabbi Avraham Amigo (Jerusalem, 1990).
