Shailos and teshuvos regarding practical halachah by Rabbi Moshe Alshich, the Alshich Hakadosh.
Rabbi Moshe Alshich (circa 1508-1600), received semichah from Rabbi Yosef Karo and was titled Harav Hamusmach. He drew his wisdom in Kabbalah from the Arizal Hakadosh and was one of the spiritual mentors of Rabbi Chaim Vital. The Alshich Hakadosh, as he is famously called, served as a dayan and Rosh Yeshivah of two yeshivos in Tzfas where he disseminated Torah to many talmidim and authored numerous teshuvos.
The preset sefer, Shu”t Maharam Alshich, encompasses 140 chapters on Yoreh Deah, Even Haezer and Choshen Mishpat, and one very fundamental and famous teshuvah on Orach Chaim (Ch. 110) regarding grafted esrogim. The latter teshuvah is cited by virtually every subsequent Posek who discusses this topic.
In his sefer on Choshen Mishpat, the Shach cites the Alshich dozens of times!
This sefer also offers an important historical documentation of the golden era of 16th century Tzfas to which the Alshich refers as “Ir Elokeinu, city of our G-d” (Ch. 53:96).
