Large, two volumes, comprehensive commentary on the entire Sefer Tehillim by Rabbi Yoel Ibn Shuib, one of the great scholars and orators of the Spanish expulsion era. The commentary, which was never reprinted,
is over 600 pages! long, and is one of the most comprehensive commentaries on Sefer Tehillim.
Rabbi Yoel Ibn Shuib (1456-1510) was a Spanish Rabbi, commentator and orator in the era of the Spanish Expulsion. He served as Rabbi in Aragon and Navarre in north Spain. With the expulsion in 1492, he wandered to Salonika where he was appointed Rabbi of Aragon community in Salonika. He called out to the Anusim (Marranos), encouraging them not to fear but to embrace their faith and practice Torah openly.
Rabbi Yoel Ibn Shuib compiled his present work on Tehillim in Toledo in 1489. His written legacy also includes Olas Shabbos (Venice, 1577) and a commentary on Eichah that was printed inside Rabbi Avraham Galanti’s Kol Bochim (Venice, 1589). He authored other works which have not been yet printed as mentioned in his son’s foreword.
Provenance: Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim (1757-1832) signature appears on the title page and Vol. 2 has his handwritten comment.

Both volumes are bound in new matching leather bindings.
