Sefer Yesod

Kli Yakar
al HaTorah

First Edition
Lublin, 1602

The Kli Yakar is one of the fundamental commentaries on Chamishah Chumshei Torah.

First edition, rare!
Kli Yakar by Rabbi Shlomo Efraim Luntschitz, Av Beis Din of Prague and one of the greatest orators of his generation, is one of the most widely-acclaimed commentaries on Chamishah Chumshei Torah, encompassing an array of pshat, drush and mussar.
One of the venerated 16th century Rabbanim in Prague, Rabbi Shlomo Efraim Luntschitz was a contemporary of the Maharal of Prague and Shl”a Hakadosh. He was a disciple of the Maharshal and Rabbi of the Tosfos Yom Tov and Rabbi Sheftel, son of the Shl”a.
The value of the Kli Yakar commentary was discerned even before its publication at the turn of the 17th century. “The leaders and luminaries of the Three Lands who are at the forefront of the generation desired this composition, to the extent that they generously volunteered to sponsor the costs of the publication. They did not do this for any other new sefer printed at that time, and this attests greatly to the extraordinary value, significance and praise of this work” (Publisher’s foreword).
In time, Kli Yakar would become an integral part of every Chumash Mikraos Gedolos. The present first edition is rare and on the top of collectors wishlist.
