Magnificent title page!
Nachalah Bli Metzarim.
Singular Edition. Vilna, 1836
Essays on topics of mussar and derech eretz by Rabbi Yaakov Yeshaya Pras.
In this sefer, the author specifically focuses on the quality of histapkus, sufficing with one’s possessions and avoiding the pursuit of luxuries, honor and wealth.
The first page of the sefer features a striking unusual title page with illustrations of a man plowing his field and a farmer standing on a ladder, picking fruit off a tree.
Little is known of the author, although he did print another two sefarim during this era—Amud Hatevech and Meah Maamarei Chochmah.
Vilna, 1836. Singular edition. [1], 16 leaves. Page size: 20 cm. Title page and last page reinforced. Good condition. Old binding.
The title page bears the autograph of the great Rabbi Mordechai Friedman of Mezritch who owned an impressive library.
