Volume 2: Essays on the months of Tishrei through Adar. Zolkova, 1846. Page Count: 226 leaves. Page Size: 23.8 cm.

In his preface to his sefer Yodei Binah (Munkacs, 1911), the Bnei Yissachar’s son Rabbi Elazar Shapira of Lancut explains that his father gave his sefer the unusual title Bnei Yissachar after his Rabbi and mentor the Chozeh of Lublin revealed that his soul derived from the tribe of Yissachar.
The Bnei Yissachar, the
Admor Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov (1783-1841) was one of the great Admorim and progenitors of Chassidus, renowned throughout the world for his piety, sanctity and righteousness. His sefer Bnei Yissachar is a fundamental Chassidic work “and the world was filled with his wisdom and Torah which shines from one end of the world until the other” (Divrei Chaim in his preface to the Bnei Yissachar’s sefer Reiach Dudaim). He was a prolific writer whose sefarim serve as cornerstones of the Chassidic library and offer a faint glimpse into his awe-inspiring genius and fluency in all realms of Torah; “and many thirstily drink from his holy words” (ibid).
