The secret behind the name of the holy sefer Noam Elimelech,
by Rabbi Shimon Zelikover HY”D
___
“The intelligent will understand that the sefer Noam Elimelech sweetens harsh judgments upon Klal Yisrael until today.”
A wondrous letter in which the holy gaon of Zelikov reveals amazing secrets concerning the naming of the sefer Noam Elimelech by Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk, based on the hidden Torah and the writings of the Arizal.
The body of the letter contains an addendum to the words he delivered upon the holy Noam Elimelech on his yahrzeit. He explains in great detail that “his sefer was named with ruach hakodesh.” Later he writes, “and now see the wonder of this holy tzaddik whose son called the compilation Lekutei Shoshanah, ” explaining that this name was also based on gematria and secrets of the Torah.
Rabbi Avraham Shimon Halevi Engel-Horowitz from Zelikov Hy”d (1876-1943) was known in his time as Rabbi Shimmale Zelikover. He was one of Poland’s great Torah sages, who was, according to his foremost disciple the Shevet Levi, “a tremendous genius…and all the pathways of the Hidden and Revealed Torah were as clear to him as they were when given at Har Sinai.” He remained largely anonymous, a hidden tzaddik, until Rabbi Meir Shapira appointed him Mashgiach Ruchani of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, bringing him to the forefront of Torah dissemination in the Chassidic enclaves of pre-Holocaust Europe. Upon the liquidation of the Cracow ghetto, he was deported wrapped in tallis and tefillin along with the rest of the Jews. Hy”d.
