From Radin to New Jersey…
Letter with the
Chofetz Chaim’s Autograph
Radin, 1929

An urgent appeal by the Chofetz Chaim to the Jewish community of Trenton, New Jersey, on behalf of the Yeshivah in Radin which was on the verge of closure due to its difficult financial strait.
In this letter, the Chofetz Chaim pitifully describes that there are over “three hundred
outstanding [scholars] in Torah and  Yirass Shamayim [of heaven] who are threatened with starvation!”
He concludes with a heartfelt blessing that
“All who help…shall be blessed…with great success in all your needs.”

In 1869, the Chofetz Chaim founded the famed yeshivah in Radin, and he endeavored tirelessly to sustain it throughout his life, attending to its needs and fundraising extensively in order to support its talmidim.
Radin, 1929. Typewritten letter autographed by the holy hand of the Chofetz Chaim!
