The Bach’s Promise
The sacred attributes, kavanos and segulos of the holy Siddur HaShl”a are well-known. Since its publication, faithful Jews, tzaddikim, kabbalists, and Chassidic masters have yearned to pray from this siddur due to its special qualities and the Bach’s promise that the prayers of one who davens from the Siddur HaShl”a will not be returned unanswered.
The Shl”a compiled his comprehensive siddur shortly after reaching Jerusalem in 1622 and treasured it greatly. He specifically asked his children to publish the siddur in order to garner the merits of all prayers prayed from the siddur. He writes in his last will and testament:
“It occurred to me to compile this creation so it could be printed, and when it is prevalent among the people, then I will have a portion and merit in all the prayers of Yisrael.”
This first edition of this siddur was printed precisely based on the Shl”a’s writings and instructions. Subsequent later editions include supplements that were not written by the Shl”a.
