Tikkunei Shabbos by the Ariza”l with Minchas Yaakov Commentary.
Dyhrernfurth, 1692

Zmiros from the Ariza”l, along with songs, poems, prayers and special passages from the Torah to be studied and sung at the Shabbos table, based on the teachings of the Arizal. The sefer is printed along with the kabbalistic Minchas Yaakov commentary by Rabbi Yaakov Halevi Segal of Posen.
The Minchas Yaakov commentary is one of the fundamental commentaries on the Arizal’s zemiros. In this sefer, Rabbi Yaakov Halevi Segal of Posen also included a comprehensive commentary on the famous poem Lecha Dodi which is likely the first commentary on this sacred poem.
The Arizal’s Tikkunei Shabbos was enthusiastically received by congregations around the Jewish world and printed in many editions, although interestingly, no two editions are identical. The majority of copies are worn and damaged due to regular use at the Shabbos table, and any prior editions of this work are exceedingly valuable finds. The present copy is complete and in good condition.
With approbation from Rabbi Sheftel Halevi Horowitz, son of the Shl”a and Av Beis Din of Posen.
This work was printed in the famous print shop of Rabbi Shabsai Bass in Dyhrernfurth, and the printer’s emblem, an image of a man holding music notes, is emblazoned at the top of the title page. Rabbi Shabsai Bass included several new pieces in this printed edition, among them a special prayer by the Arizal to be recited prior to immersing in the mikvah on Erev Shabbos (Leaf 19b).
Dyhrernfurth, 1692. 37 leaves. Page size: 18 cm. Decorative architectural border on title page. Bottom edges slightly cropped. simple antique binding. Good condition.

Printer, Author & Poet
Rabbi Shabsai Meshorrer Bass
Author of Sifsei Chachamim on Rashi

Rabbi Shabsai Meshorrer Bass (1641–1718) was an eminent scholar, progenitor of the Jewish bibliography, and author of the Sifsei Chachamim supercommentary on Rashi who left his sacred stamp on Torah literature forevermore. His commentary is regarded as the classic elucidation of Rashi’s commentary on the Torah, and his Sifsei Yeshenim was the first comprehensive Hebrew bibliography encompassing a list of 2,200 Torah works in alphabetical order of titles. In this work, he notes the author, place of printing, year, and size of each book, as well as a short summary of its contents. His printing house in Dyhrernfurth was famous for printing the original editions of several fundamental works including the Magen Avraham, Taz and Beis Shmuel.
In his youth, he fled his native Poland after the murder of both his parents and settled in Prague where he studied Torah. Blessed with a magnificent voice, he studied music under the famed cantor Rabbi Leib Shir Hashirim and supported himself as the baritone singer in the famous Altschule Choir in Prague, where he earned the moniker Rabbi Shabsai Meshorrer Bass (Rabbi Shabsai, the baritone singer)
