Toldos Adam – Chochmas HaSirtut – Palmistry (חכמת היד)

Rare. Complete Illustrated Copy!

Offenbach, 1715

The fascinating study of the wisdom of face reading and Palmistry, with illustrations by Rabbi Moshe ben Rabbi Eliyahu Galina. This work includes four full-page illustrations, including a drawing of the palm. One leaf is larger than all others and folded into the book.
Early editions of this work are exceedingly rare, there is no copy in the National Library.
The art of reading a person’s face and palm is an ancient wisdom and skill mentioned in sources as early as the Zohar Hakadosh. It is known that the Arizal was an expert in this wisdom, yet Rabbi Shlomo Shlomil recounts in his letters that his master was reluctant to relay this wisdom and power even to his prime disciple Rabbi Chaim Vital.

Offenbach, 1715. 19 leaves. Page size: 16.5 cm. Good condition. Plain, antique binding.

The Institute for Hebrew Bibliography listed this book based on a photocopy of the book in the British National Library, and it records it as having only 15, [1] leaves indicating that the illustrations are likely missing. The present copy which has all 19 leaves is complete with illustrations .  extremely rare!
