Pa’amon V’Rimon. Kitzur of Pardes Rimonim by the Ramak with the rare Illustration of the Kabbalistic Tree. (צורת האילן ) Amsterdam, 1708
Impressive copy with extra-wide margins!
Two works printed alongside each other containing a summary of the fundamental kabbalistic sefer Pardes Rimonim by the Ramak, Rabbi Moshe Cordovero:
1. Assis Rimonim by his disciple Rabbi Shmuel Galico
2. Pelach HaRimon by Rabbi Menachem Azarya of Pano, the Rema of Pano
צורת האילן
The sefer also features a large folded chart with an illustration of the famous Tree that pictorially presents the progression of the Sefiros. Additional illustrations and charts appear throughout the sefer, as well.
The sefer Pardes Rimonim by the Ramak is described as an elemental work “for anyone who enters the pardes (orchard) of wisdom, ” which is the classic reference to the study of kabbalah. Since the Ramak’s writings were written in a profound and lengthy style, numerous kabbalistic scholars created abridged versions of his work.
The present edition contains an additional commentary on Assis Rimonim by the kabbalist Rabbi Mordechai of Prague, of the Fishbrum family. The commentary appears in parentheses within the work of Asis Rimonim.
Distinguished ownership: with autograph of Rabbi Shmuel Heller (1803-1884), Av Beis Din of Tzfas. Rabbi Heller was fluent in the writings of the Ramak and Arizal and published several kabbalistic sefarim in Tzfas, among them Sefer Hakavanos LeHa’Ari and Shivrei Haluchos by Rema of Pano.
