Recanati al HaTorah

First Edition. Venice, 1523

Fundamental Kabbalah Sefer

Magnificent copy!
Commentary on the Torah based on the wisdom of kabbalah by Rabbi Menachem of  Recanati  one of the first kabbalistic commentaries on the Torah!

Spectacular copy with wide margins and elaborate new leather binding!

Rabbi Menachem  Recanati  was a 13th century Italian sage and one of the first kabbalists in Italy. His commentary was one of the very first kabbalistic works on the Torah, and from the first sefarim that regularly quote the Zohar.
Rabbi Meanchem likewise quotes extensively from the early Ashkenazic kabbalistic sages as the Rokeach and Rabbi Yehuda Hachassid, and his teachings had a profound influence on later kabbalists. The Levush compiled a commentary on the  Recanati  called Even Yekarah.

Throughout most of the pages are handwritten annotations, comments, amendments, subtitles and other markings by a great Italian rabbi, whose identity has not been verified. The title page bears the provenance of “Menachem…son of Rabbi Shmuel Vitaly.”

Venice, 1523. First edition. [154] leaves. Includes a blank page between Sefer Vayikra and Bamidbar. Page size: 26.5 cm. Impressive copy!
