Explanation of the Rambam’s laws of Hilchos Kiddush Hachodesh by Rabbi Yehonasan Ruzhinai, the premier commentator on laws of Kiddush Hachodesh. This work contains dozens of astronomical and geometrical drawings. Title page with four woodcut illustrations of Moshe, Aharon, Dovid and Yehonasan. In this copy, the title page was colored in pink ink.

In his approbation to a recent new edition of this sefer, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky zt”l attested that t he Chazon Ish used this sefer when studying the laws of Kiddush Hachodesh.

That very same year, in 1720, the legendary Masores HaShas Edition of Talmud was printed in Frankfurt with Rabbi Yehonasan Ruzhinai’s drawing of the Beis Hamikdash. This illustration has since been printed in the majority of editions of Mishnah and Talmud.
 
 
     Provanance:  Numbering among the distinguished owners were 1) Rabbi Wolf Buskowitz (1740-1818), author of Seder Mishnah and son of the Machatzis Hashekel, whose autograph appears on the title page; 2) Rabbi Meir Yehuda Estreich (d. 1875), Av Beis Din of Karoli and Dayan of Obuda; and 3) the Admor Rabbi Nachum Berenyu Friedman of Sadigura (1843-1883), grandson of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin whose autograph appears, as well. With the original binding from Rabbi Nachum Berenyu’s library (with a new spine) and an ex-libris in red ink along with stamps noting both his name and “kinyan kaspi” (ownership) of the sefer.
