Handwritten and autographed letter replete with chiddushei Torah by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Friedman, a disciple of the Shevet Sofer and author of Shu”t HaRiva”d. The letter focuses on the topic of
davar sheyesh lo matirin, .
He opens the letter with a summary of a lecture delivered to his students and then proceeds to repeat what he saw in the sefer Baruch Ta’am .
Rabbi Yehuda Leib Friedman (1863-1919) was a talmid of the Shevet Sofer and Raavad of Pressburg, serving his rebbi faithfully in disseminating Torah and halachah throughout the city. In 1893, he was appointed as a dayan to the Beis Din in Pressburg, and in 1908, promoted to Raavad. During his lifetime, he received thousands of questions from across Hungary.
His chiddushei Torah were published by his son-in-law, the Pressburg dayan Rabbi Yeshaya Kalish, in Shu”t HaRiva”d (Pressburg, 1922). The Daas Sofer inscribed a beautiful approbation to his talmid’s sefer.
