Rabbi Aharon Kotler. In this letter, Reb Aron discusses many important issues that were significant to the times, among them Chinuch Atzmai in Eretz Yisrael and Agudath Israel. The letter is a historic witness to Reb Aron’s concern and activism for the benefit of Klal Yisroel as the leader and director of Torah Jewry in America and Eretz Yisroel .
The second half of the letter is devoted to inquiring about the welfare of the Gaavad of Brisk and wishing him a speedy recovery, as he writes, “How does the Gaavad of Brisk shlit”a fare? We have been praying constantly for his welfare. May Hashem Yisborach send him a complete recovery speedily.”
Rabbi Aharon Kotler (1892 – 1963) was a leading Lithuanian Rosh Yeshivah during the Holocaust generation and thereafter. Following the destruction of European Jewry, he worked tirelessly to rebuild the Yeshivah world in America, founding Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood and serving as president of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah in the United States.
