Published in 1548, this Bomberg Selichos is one of the most prestigious editions ever printed and was vastly improved over previous editions, since several of the liturgies were printed completely for the first time in this edition, and it also boasts explanations and definitions of difficult words.
Dr. Meir Benayahu, who researched the Selichos recited according to the customs of Ashkenaz, wrote that the Bomberg edition is “more complete and correct…and even contains things that did not appear in the earlier selichos editions.” (See his book Copyright, Authorization, and Imprimatur for Hebrew pg 181-189.)
