Jewish Library Classic.

 Illustrated Sefer Minhagim. Amsterdam, 1723.

This book, complete with its Yiddish translation and ornamental woodcuts, documents the customs of Ashkenazic Jewry. It was written by Rabbi Eisik Tyrnau who compiled the list of customs and added several other customs practiced by his rebbi, Harav Avraham Klausner. This sefer, along with the work of the Maharil, is regarded as the premier source of Ashkenazic customs.

Portraying daily Jewish-Ashkenazic life, Sefer Haminhagim swiftly became one of the most popular Jewish books and was printed in over 100 editions! Due to its extensive use, former editions were gradually phased out and became virtually nonexistent.

This work features over 30 woodcuts that visually convey an authentic Jewish lifestyle of three centuries ago.

Amsterdam, 1723. 61 leaves. Page size: 19 cm. New binding. Reinforced in corners of margins. Good condition. Attractive new blue leather binding with gold engravings.
