Classic Commentary  on Maseches Gittin!

Toras Gittin. First Edition. Frankfurt der Oder, 1813

Novellae and commentary on Maseches Gittin and Shulchan Aruch Hilchos Gittin by Harav Yaakov Lorberbaum of Lisa, author of the Nesivos Hamishpat and Chavas Daas.

First editions of the author’s seforim are very rare. (First edition of Nesivos Hamishpat appears in the present Catalog.)

Harav Yaakov Lorberbaum (1770-1832), Av Beis Din of Lisa, was a prolific author and among the most celebrated Achronim. He was renowned throughout the world for his fundamental works Nesivos Hamishpat on Choshen Mishpat; Chavas Da’as on Yoreh Deah; Mekor Chaim on Hilchos Pesach and Siddur Derech Chaim, as well as the present sefer Toras Gittin on Maseches Gittin.

One Good Word
In the forewords to their works, many a Torah author inscribed apologetically that even if his work does not contain any groundbreaking novellae, there is at least one good thing in the sefer that justifies its publication: “The wise man said: One good word shall save the whole sefer.” The original source of this expression is in the foreword to Toras Gittin.

Frankfurt an der Oder, 1813. First edition. [1], 129 leaves. 19.5 cm. Small stain on title page verso. Good condition. New cloth binding.
