Nekudos Hakessef by the Shach. First Edition.Frankfurt on the Oder , 1677

Nekudas Hakessef contains discussions and critique on the Turei Zahav (Ta”z) Yoreh Deah by the Shach, Rabbeinu Shabsi Hakohein Katz.

The Shach inscribes in his foreword:
“The reader should not imagine, chas veshalom, that I have any dispute with the author of Turei Zahav, or that I have any misgiving or criticism in my heart and therefore compiled this critique of his sefer, for it is known to all that…Torah returns to its place, and I hosted the author of Turei Zahav for three days, and I accorded him indescribable honors, and he was so greatly honored by me that he kissed me on my head…”

Shach and Taz Yoreh Deah were both published in the same year 1646; the Shach in Cracow and Taz in Lublin. An endpage appears in the Taz Yoreh Deah (Very rare. one known copy in the Y. Mandel’s collection, NY) in which the Taz challenges the Shach without referring to him by his name. In the present sefer, the Shach responds to the Taz’s challenges and clarifies his statements (see Leaf 80b).
The Taz’s grandson Harav Yoel of Shebershin authored his counter response to the Nekudos Hakessef’s comments and critique of the Taz in his sefer Maginei Lev (Prague, 1720).

Frankfurt on the Oder , 1677. First edition. 83, [2] leaves. Page size: 17.5 cm. Several handwritten marginalia. New binding.
