Rare Documents!
Immigration Document Listing All Possessions & 12,000 Sefarim Belonging to the Admor Rabbi Yoel of Satmar & Rebbetzin
Two rare post-Holocaust documents compiled prior to the Satmar Rav and Rebbetzin’s arrival in Eretz Yisrael after the war.
Harav Yoel of Satmar and his wife departed Satmar penniless after the Holocaust, taking only the bare minimum along with them. After the war, the Rebbetzin endeavored to reclaim their possessions, and especially the vast library that had belonged to her husband.
British Mandate laws of that era compelled all immigrants to create a clear, itemized description of all their possessions and to pay taxes before shipping them from Europe to Eretz Yisrael.
These rare historic documents include the following:
1. ‘Immigrant’s Declaration’ – signed with the full name of Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum by one of his disciples who facilitated the immigration process.
2. Official itemized list of all belongings brought by the Rebbe and Rebbetzin into the country, signed in English with the full name of Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum by one of his disciples who facilitated the immigration process.
The list of declared items includes 12,000 books; 10 Sifrei Torah; furniture and housewares.
2 documents by the British Mandate. 1945. Good condition.
