The title page cites the ownership of “Maras Chaya Eishes Harabbani M[oreinu] Yitzchak Weiss of Pasik.” The last page likewise contains a long handwritten description of ownership signed by her son
“Ben zekunim Klonimus Kalman Weiss.”
Harav Yitzchak Isaac Weiss (1824-1894), Av Beis Din of Svaliaya, was the author of Beis Yitzchak and one of the greatest kabbalists in his generation. In his youth, he studied Chassidus and kabbalah under the Bnei Yissachar, Rabbi Yehuda Tzvi of Rozdal, the Sar Shalom of Belz and Rabbi Yitzchak Eisik of Ziditchov.
At the age of 15, he married the tzaddekes Rebbetzin Chaya, daughter of the chassid and philanthropist Rabbi Klonimus Kalman “Pasiker” of Pasik, a town situated between Munkacs and Svaliava. For twenty years, Harav Yitzchak Isaac Weiss led his flock faithfully as Av Beis Din of Svaliaya and subsequently for 15 years as Raavad in Munkacs until his passing on his seventieth birthday.
Their son Klonimus Kalman was a shochet, bodek and chazzan in Vienna, as well as the chazzan of Harav Yehoshua Heschel Fried of Kaposch.
