Rabbi Nosson began writing his novellae at Rabbi Nachman of Breslov’s command in the year 1808. From then on, he toiled on his Rebbe’s writings continuing for the next 40 years until just two days before his passing. The publication of this work took over 20 years, with each volume being published separately in several different countries.
