The Baal Hatanya’s Legacy

Ohr Haganuz La’tzaddikim. First Edition. Zolkova, 1800

An anthology of lessons collected from disciples of the Baal Shem Tov, specifically the Baal Hatanya the Admor Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, highlighting proper conduct and Mussar in order of the weekly Parshiyos.

This sefer was compiled by Harav Aharon of Apta, Av Beis Din and Maggid in Zelichov and author of Kesser Shem Tov and Siddur Kesser Nehora.

Harav Aharon of Apta was a venerable disciple of the Chozeh Mi’Lublin who devoted his life to disseminating the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov and his disciples. He was one of the premier Chassidic authors and the first to inscribe stories of the Chassidic masters for posterity. His work, Kesser Shem Tov, was published two decades prior to Shivchei Baal Shem Tov.

The author published his work anonymously, often concealing his sources, as well. He cites teachings from the Noam Elimelech and Darchei Tzedek merely as “holy sources, ” albeit on numerous occasions he does reference the Tanya, which had been printed 3 years earlier.

Zolkova, 1800. First edition. [64] leaves. Page size: 19 cm. Several holes on first two pages and the last page, professionally restored. New leather binding.
