Complete copy with rare letters of approbation!

Chassidic essays and commentary on the Torah and Megillos by the Admor Harav Moshe Sofer Stam of Pshevorsk.

The present rare and complete copy features 2 additional leaves with letters of approbation (leaves 3-4). These were printed in small font after the original printing of this edition and inserted into a limited number of copies.

The Sefer begins with a singular collection of over 40 letters of approbation from the greatest Chassidic masters of the era, something unparalleled in any other Chassidic Sefer. These approbations include exceptional expressions of praise regarding the exalted spiritual level and piety of the author.

Among the many approbations, in order of appearance, are letters by the Kedushas Levi; Kozhnitzer Maggid; Chozeh Mi’Lublin; Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Riminov; the Ohev Yisrael of Apta; Rabbi Chaim of Chernowitz, author of Be’er Mayim Chaim; the son of the Rebbe Zusha of Anipoli; Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kossov; Rabbi Tzvi Aryeh of Alik; Rabbi Naftali of Ropschitz; Rabbi Aryeh Leib of Lancut; the Beis Efraim; Rabbi Yaakov of Lisa, author of Chavas Da’as; and the author of Yeshuos Yaakov who was closely acquainted with the author and describes him “My childhood friend.”

Harav Moshe Sofer of Pshevorsk (circa 1720-1806) was one of the venerable early Chassidic masters. He was renowned by the name Sofer due to his vocation as a scribe, and it is known that he calligraphed each letter with absolute piety and holiness. The famed tzaddikim of his generation all vied to purchase tefillin written by Harav Moshe Sofer, safeguarding and treasuring them throughout generations with ardor and holiness.
The Rebbe Harav Zusha of Anipoli once related to his sons: “I once saw him learning, and he appeared to me as an angel of Hashem. When he wrote his sacred sefer, a flame would emerge from his holy written letters.”

Mezritch, 1810. First edition. This was the first and only Chassidic sefer printed in the city of Mezritch which became the home and fountain of Chassidus after the passing of the Baal Shem Tov.

Spark of the Alshich Hakadosh

Ohr Pnei Moshe is based on the teachings of the Alshich Hakadosh. In his letter of approbation, Harav Naftali of Ropschitz writes: “And all his ways are founded on sills of gold, based on the foundations of Rabbeinu the Alshich Hakadosh in whose ways he walked. ‘From Moshe to Moshe there was no one like him…’

The Chozeh Mi’Lublin reveals in his letter of approbation that the Alshich Hakadosh revealed himself to Harav Moshe of Pshevorsk from his early youth, and that the latter possessed a spark of the Alshich’s holy neshamah
