The Soncino Family and the History of Hebrew Printing
The name Soncino is synonymous with the history of early Hebrew printing.
The illustrious Soncino family worked in the Hebrew printing industry for some 70 years and strongly influenced the printing of Jewish fundamental works.
The men perceived Hebrew printing as a holy occupation.
The Soncinos founded printing houses in all the cities they migrated to.
Pesaro, Italy was one of the more famous cities where the Soncino family published works of high caliber.
The Ramban’s commentary is clear testimony to the excellence of the Soncino family’s work. The opening pages display impressive decorations and the title page borders are works of art.
