Handwritten endorsement letters by Harav Aharon Fried, Av Beis Din of Bosramin; Harav Moshe Hirsh Fuchs, Av Beis Din of Grosswardein; and Harav Eliezer Lev, Av Beis Din of Ungvar who adds his signature to those of his uncle and grandfather. These letters were written on behalf of a Tzfas resident who traveled to Hungary and about whom the Rabbanim wrote: “It is a great mitzvah to draw him near.”

Harav Aharon Fried (1813-1891) was Av Beis Din of Bosramin for close to sixty years! Harav Fried numbered among the great Hungarian sages and was approached with complex and intricate shailos by scholar and layman alike. He authored Shu”t Maharap, Omer LeTzyion, and Tzek Hakessef, among others.

One of the leading Rabbanim in Hungary and Transylvania,
Harav Moshe Hirsch Fuchs (1843-1911) authored Shu”t Yad Rama. He was a disciple of the Ksav Sofer and served as Rav in Grosswardein for thirty years.

Harav Eliezer Lev (1839-1908) was a grandson of the Shaarei Torah and Shemen Rokach. He authored Shu”t Pekudas Elazar.

Bosmarin/Grosswardein/Ihel, 1889. Page size: 21x16cm. Center of the page has a tear, with a small part missing and restored by hand. Harav Moshe Hirsh’s endorsement is written on a separate leaf attached to Harav Aharon’s letter.
