A collection of responsa, and letters by the Rambam. The Rambam responded to halachic queries from around the world, corresponding with sages from countries as distant as France, Spain, Yemen and Babylonia.
The Ramban’s letters and responsa constitute a treasure trove of halachah and principles of Jewish faith and belief.
This sefer is the first published collection of the Rambam’s responsa.
This collection encompasses both halachic responsa as well as responses to challenges, questions, and arguments on his rulings in Mishnah Torah which he was asked to clarify and qualify. The letters concern the foundations of Jewish faith, as well as additional writings referring to the debate regarding the Rambam’s sefarim.
The most famous among these responsa are letters that he wrote to the sages of Lonil, and his responsum to Rabbi Pinchas of Alexandria which includes vital foundations that facilitate the understanding of his magnum opus Mishnah Torah.
