The Damesek Eliezer of Vizhnitz’s personal chumashim set gifted by his father-in-law the holy Kapischnitzer. Lemberg, 1874
This Chamishah Chumshei Torah with Be’er Mayim Chaim and Or HaChaim scommentaries was the personal chumash of the Damesek Eliezer of Vizhnitz. He received the set as a gift from his father-in-law Harav Yitzchak Meir of Kapischnitz and learned from them extensively.
On 4 volumes (of 5), the Damesek Eliezer stampedhis name and inscribed: "A gift given by my holy father-in-law the Rebbe and Tzaddik shlita."
In the volume of Vayikrah it also says, "This sefer belongs to Avraham Yehoshua Heschel, " referring to the son of the Admor of Kapischnitz, brother in law of the Damesek Eliezer
Several marginalia appear in this set of Chumashim with annotations to the Ohr Hachaim and Be’er Mayim Chaim commentaries, most of which have been identified as the handwriting of the Damesek Eliezer. (Some of these marginalia are partially cropped.)
The Admor Harav Eliezer Hager of Vizhnitz (1891-1946) was the son and successor of the Ahavas Yisrael of Vizhnitz and son-in-law of the Kapischnitzer Rebbe. Harav Eliezer Hager journeyed to Eretz Yisrael in 1944 whereupon he began reestablishing his chassidus until taking ill several months later and passing away. His Torah thoughts and teachings have been recorded in his work Damesek Eliezer.
The Admor Harav Yitzchak Meir of Kapischnitz (1862-1936) was renowned far and wide as a tzaddik and miracle worker. He was the son of Harav Yehoshua Heschel of Mezibuzh and direct grandson of the Ohev Yisrael of Apta. H
