Kabbalistic and Chassidic commentary on the weekly Torah portions by the Admor Harav Menachem Mendel of Kossov, progenitor of the Kossov-Vizhnitz dynasty.
On the title page there are signatures of descendants of the Noam Elimelech; the Admor Harav Yaakov Yitzchak of Lizhensk-Ziditchov and Harav Chaim of Lizhensk, sons of Harav Naftali of Lizhensk, son of Harav Elazar of Lizhensk, son of Harav Elimelech of Lizhensk, author of Noam Elimelech.
1. The Admor Harav Yaakov Yitzchak of Lizhensk-Ziditchov married the daughter of Harav Yaakov Naftali Herzl Lavin, a son-in-law of the Admor Harav Tzvi Hirsh of Ziditchov. Harav Yaakov Yitzchak dwelled in Ziditchov. He studied by the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, whose son the Shinova Rebbe described him as “The righteous and pious Rav.” During Harav Yaakov Yitzchak’s occasional visits to Hungary, his illustrious presence attracted thousands of chassidim who flocked to hear his wisdom and counsel.
2. Harav Chaim of Lizhensk, brother of the Admor Harav Yaakov Yitzchak of Lizhensk-Ziditchov. Harav Chaim was a son-in-law of Harav Dovid of Lelov.
The majority of the sefer is written in remez, which is the allegorical and symbolic meaning of the words, and it also includes many gematrios. Many later Rebbes in the dynasty followed the style and method of teachings based on this sefer .
Ahavas Shalom was published by the author’s sons Harav Chaim of Kossov and Harav Dovid of Zovaltov, and his son-in-law Harav Gershon Ashkenazi of Tlomtash, author of Avodas Hagershoni.
