Tzemach Hashem LaTzvi. First Edition. Berditchev, 1817

Chassidic and Kabblistic Commentary on the Torah portions written by the Holy Rebbe Harav Tzvi Hirsh of Nadvorna, disciple of the Baal Shem Tov and Maggid of Mezritch.

In his childhood, young Tzvi Hirsh was playing near the Baal Shem Tov who blessed him that he should grow to become a great leader in Klal Yisrael. As the years passed, he studied Torah and Chassidus by the Maggid of Mezritch. His prime disciples were the Ahavas Shalom of Kossov and Harav Tzvi Hirsh of Zidichov. Rav Tzvi Hirsh of Zidichov would later recount that his first breath of ruach hakodesh came from his rebbi, Rav Tzvi Hirsh of Nadvorna.

Harav Tzvi Hirsh’s grandson, Harav Yitzchak Isaac of Ziditchov would not miss a day without learning from the sefer Tzemach Hashem. The Divrei Chaim of Sanz once expressed that a chassid should mortgage his shtreimel in order to purchase the sefer Tzemach Hashem LaTzvi.

This sefer features approbations by Harav Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev, Harav Efraim Zalman Margalios, and Harav Mordechai of Kremnitz (son of the author’s rebbi and mentor Harav Yechiel Michel of Zlotchov).

copy of the Admor Harav Moshe Hager of Seret (1860-1902) who was a direct descendent of the Ahavas Shalom. In 1897, he journeyed to Eretz Yisrael where he settled in Haifa and then later relocated to Tzfas. He passed away and was buried near the tomb of the Arizal. Harav Moshe Hager authored Vayikach Moshe (Munkazc, 1907) and his daughter married Harav Naftali Halberstam of Kashinov, a grandson of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz.
