The Admor Harav Yosef Chaim Frankel Hy”d, Av Beis Din of Shendishov, was the son of the Admor Harav Avraham of Vyelipol and the grandson of the famed Admor and miracle-worker Harav Shlomo Zalman Yosef of Vyelipol, progenitor of the Chassidic dynasty. Harav Yosef Chaim Frankel, who served as Admor in Shendishov, perished al kiddush Hashem in the Holocaust on 6 Av, 5702 (1942). His son Harav Shlomo Zalman Cohen served as Admor in the United States after the war.
In this letter, the Admor of Shendishov describes the terrible tragedies afflicting Poland Jewry and of the widespread hunger which was depriving children of bread.
