Maaseh Tzofer. Salonika, circa 1593
An amusing tale of a poor man named Tzofer who deceives people in order to earn a living. The story concludes with a parable attributed to Rabbi Shem Tov Arduital of Castile.
The rabbi and poet Rabbi Shem Tov Arduital was born in north Castille at the end of the 13th century. He was a frequent visitor to the Royal Court and composed poems and parables of Jewish ethics and philosophy.
This book is extremely rare , The great bibliographer Moses Steinschneider described this book
150 years ago as: “Single and rare edition.”
Salonika circa 1593-1595. First and only edition. 10 leaves Page size: 18 cm. Decorative title page with cropped edges and white adhesive reinforcements on the first three pages.
