Handwritten & Autographed Letter by Rabbi Avraham Yoffin, Rosh Yeshivah of Novardok. Białystok, 1935.
Recommendation letter on behalf of Rabbi Mordechau Goldin, the Rosh Yeshivah of Novardok in Białystok. Rabbi Goldin used this letter on his fundraising journey to support the yeshivah.
In the letter, the Novardok Rosh Yeshivah Harav Avraham Yoffin vividly portrays the harsh conditions endured by the bachurim in the yeshivah who had dedicated their lives to learning Torah. Many lacked any financial assistance or support from their parents due to the severe economic crisis that plagued Europe between the two world wars.
Harav Avraham Yoffin (1886-1970) was the son-in-law and successor of the legendary Alter of Novardok Harav Yosef Yozel Horowitz — founder of the Novardok Yeshivah and its methods of learning and serving Hashem. Harav Avraham was one of the premier teachers and disseminators of the Novardok mussar method, and devoted his life founding and supporting a network of Novardok yeshivos in Eastern Europe and around the world. There were branches of Yeshivas Beis Yosef in Novardok, Baranowitz, Bialystok, New York, and Yerushalayim.
