Autographed Letter by the Strikover Rebba  Rabbi Menachem Mendel Landau zt"l 1929

This handwritten and autographed letter by Harav Menachem Mendel Landau of Strikov concerns the Rebbe’s efforts to provide financial support to Polish Jewish expatriates who had settled in Eretz Yisrael via Kollel Warsaw.

Harav Menachem Mendel Landau of Strikov (d. 1937) was the son of Harav Dov Berish of Biala and a grandson of Rabbi Avrohom of Chechnov. He was a formidable scholar and kabbalist. In his humility he initially refused to accept the title of Admor. After the passing of his brother the chassidim beseeched him repeatedly until he finally agreed, whereupon he became known as the Strikover Rebbe.

The Strikover Rebbe was active in assisting and supporting Polish Jews who had settled in the Holy Land. The Rebbe himself made the journey to Eretz Yisrael twice in his lifetime where he offered emotional, spiritual and financial support to his chassidim.

Postcard. Postmarked 1929.
