The Shl”a compiled this siddur shortly after reaching Jerusalem in 1622 and treasured it greatly. In fact, this was the only one of his works that he specifically requested his children to publish, as inscribed in his last will and testament:

“It occurred to me to compile this creation so it could be printed, and when it is prevalent among the people, then I will have a portion and merit in all the prayers of Yisrael.”

This first edition of this siddur was printed precisely based on the Shl”a’s writings. Second and later editions (Amsterdam, 1742) all include additions and supplements that were not written by the Shl”a.
