A large handwritten volume of Torah novellae written by the son of the Yalkut Eliezer, Harav Yosef Leib Sofer, Av Beis Din of Paks and author of the Yalkut Sofer, and his brother Harav Shmuel Binyamin Sofer, Av Beis Din of Dretchke. The first half of the book contains 50 handwritten sides by Harav Yosef Leib Sofer, and the second half contains 87 sides by his younger brother and successor Harav Shmuel Binyamin.
Harav Yosef Leib Sofer (1861-1918) was the son and prime disciple of his father Harav Eliezer Zussman Sofer, Av Beis Din of Paks and author of the Yalkut Eliezer. A genius, Torah scholar and talented author, he studied under the tutelage of the Shevet Sofer before being crowned Av Beis Din of Dretchke. In 1803, he succeeded his father as Av Beis Din of Paks. His written legacy includes Likutei Sofer and Yalkut Sofer.
Harav Shmuel Binyamin Sofer (1873-circa 1943) was the youngest son of the Yalkut Eliezer and succeeded his elder brother Harav Yosef Leib Sofer as Av Beis Din in Dretchke. He authored Divrei Sofrim on principles in Shas and many of his responsa were printed during and after his lifetime.

Yahrtzeit of the Riv”a
In the last page of this manuscript Harav Yosef Leib Sofer documented his annual custom of teaching Mishnayos to the Chevras Shas between Minchah and Maariv on the yahrtzeit of his grandfather Harav Yoel Unger. He would then share one of the Torah novellae inscribed in his grandfather’s sefer Shu”t HaRiva. Here, he presents a long list noting the paragraphs that he already taught.
