The title page features a handwritten dedication by Rabbi Daniel Prostitz with his signature.
Copy of Rabbi Yosef Rotenberg of Kassani, author of Bnei Shilashim
On the page after the title page there is the signature of the Admor Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Rotenberg of Kleinwardain, who testifies that he inherited the book from his father, the gaon and tzaddik, author of Bnei Shilashim.
The following is a translation of the inscription:
This which I have been bestowed from Hashem, from the estate of my master, my father, the crown upon my head, of blessed memory Moshe Shmuel R"b Mkii"d [Rotenberg Kleinwardain] son of the famous Rabbi Morenu Harav Yosef z”l from Kasan.
Also features the signature of Rabbi Efraim Asher Halevi Rotenberg son of the Admor Rabbi moshe shmuel.
Rabbi Moshe Shmuel (1872-1946) succeeded his father, and served as Rabbi in Kleinwardain and later in the United States.
The holy tzaddik Rabbi Yosef Rotenberg of Kassani, (1853-1912) Famous for his practice of holiness and purity would often fast and refrain from physical pleasures, devoting himself completely to serving his Creator. Many came to him for brachos and yeshuos.
The Gaon Rabbi Daniel Prostitz Rosh Av Bes Din of Pressburg (1753-1846) was one of the great Talmiday Chachamim of Pressburg and an associate of the Chasam Sofer, and played an influential role in arranging the Chasam Sofer’s rabbinical position in Pressburg.
The Ksav Sofer said of him in his eulogy: “Oy what has happened to us, Pressburg. We lost our pride, our glory and splendor. He was famous for his teachings and righteousness and piety and purity, and all of Pressburg shall weep the great loss". (See: Derashos Ksav Sofer pp.107-110)
