Manuscript of the Meshech Chochmah by Harav Meir Simcha Hakohein, Av Beis Din of Dvinsk and author of the Ohr Somayach, with his handwritten additions and amendments.
27 leaves—remnants of the original manuscript of Meshech Chochmah on the Torah. This was part of the author’s original manuscript copy and features numerous amendments and additions in his own handwriting.
The sefer Meshech Chochmah was exceedingly precious to its author Harav Meir Simcha Hakohein of Dvinsk, who devoted many years to compiling, authoring and editing it to perfection. He instructed a scribe to copy the original text in a neater, more organized format, and then inserted significant comments and amendments in his own hand. This manuscript is arranged in two neat columns and boasts over 20 of the author’s handwritten comments, additions and corrections between the lines.
This sacred manuscript offers a rare, fascinating glimpse into the creation and editing of the Torah classic Meshech Chochmah.
The Majority of the text was copied by a scribe with added amendments and correction by the Mechaber

Sefer Meshech Chochmah
Harav Meir Simcha Hakohein of Dvinsk guarded his personal manuscript of the Meshech Chochmah lovingly. He referenced this work frequently in his public discourses and reiterated on numerous occasions that he’d invested far more effort and toil into the writing of sefer Meshech Chochmah than into his other sefarim, including Ohr Somayach.
he Imrei Emes of Gur was effusive in his praises of the Meshech Chochmah.
Harav Chaim Ozer Grodzinski, Av Beis Din of Vilna, likewise held this work in high esteem, learning from it every erev Shabbos and often marveling at the luminous wisdom that emanated from it.
As he lay on his deathbed, the Ohr Somayach entrusted his beloved manuscript to the care of Harav Menachem Mendel Zak, Av Beis Din of Riga, and expressed that “It contains great wonders.”
Since its original printing in Riga, 1927, the Meshech Chochmah has adorned the desks of Gedolei Yisrael and lomdei Torah worldwide. It has been reprinted in multiple editions with supplements, comments and explanations.
