The main body of this sefer is responsa by Harav Meir Katzenellenbogen. It also includes responsa by Harav Yehuda Mintz, renowned as Mahar”i Mintz (father-in-law of Harav Meir).
Maharam Padua (1482-1565) was among the leading early Achronim and the elder relative of both the Rema and Maharshal, who submitted to his halachic rulings. The Rema wrote, “Go and see the wonders of G-d in the world—my relative Hagaon Hagadol Moreinu Harav Meir Padua, who creates fences and closes breaches, pursues righteousness in his Rabbinical court…” (Shu”t Rema Ch. 17)
