Hagaon Harav Akiva Hakohein Strasser, Av Beis Din of Takai (~1860-1924) was the son of Harav Yaakov Yehuda Leib Hakohein Strasser, son-in-law of the Ksav Sofer. He studied under his revered grandfather the Ksav Sofer and uncle, the Shevet Sofer, and was a son-in-law of Maharam Broide, Av Beis Din of Shusburg. He fought valiantly to preserve authentic Torah Judaism, frequently quoting his great-grandfather the Chasam Sofer’s famous motto, “New is forbidden from the Torah.” Several of his Torah essays and writings were compiled in Toras Avos (Brooklyn, 1990).
