Handwritten ‘Moreinu’ Ordination by the Shevet Sofer Harav Simcha Bunim Sofer, Av Beis Din Pressburg, 1903
This handwritten, autographed ordination by the Shevet Sofer was delivered to his disciple Harav Asher Anshel Yehudah Miller, later Av Beis Din of Petroşani, Romania, before his marriage.
The
Shevet Sofer (1843-1907) succeeded his holy ancestors the Chasam Sofer and Ksav Sofer as Rav of Pressburg. He administered the great Yeshivah in Pressburg where he cultivated thousands of talmidim and gedolei Torah. This students went on to spread their brilliance and ardor for Torah and holiness throughout the borders of Hungary. The Shevet Sofer’s spiritual leadership extended across Europe, Following in the steps of his venerable father and grandfather, he was a prolific author whose written legacy includes multiple volumes of Torah novellae.
