Rare Handwritten Letter by the Sanz-Klausenburg Rebbe Harav Yekusiel Yehuda Halberstam, 1946.

This letter by the Sanz-Klausenburg Rebbe Harav Yekusiel Yehudah Halberstam was written during the brief period of time that he visited Paris after the war. The letter is a handwritten affirmation of a monetary loan by Mr. Aharon Goodman, Chairman of Agudas Yisrael in London, on behalf of the Jewish center in Munich.

Following his miraculous survival of the Holocaust, the Sanz-Klausenburger Rebbe dwelled temporarily in displaced persons camps in Germany where he revived the shattered hearts and spirits of his fellow survivors and founded Torah and religious centers. After Pesach 1946, he braved the journey to America with the goal of raising funds on behalf of the war-torn survivors, which was illegal. In the course of both his voyage to and from America, he stopped briefly in Paris, remaining there for less than a month in total. Letters by the Rebbe from his time spent in Paris are exceedingly rare.

Page size: 21×27 cm. dated 1946. Folds and hole punched in margins.
