Manuscript Maamar Mordechai with Handwritten Lectures Delivered in Avisna, 1814
1. Maamar Mordechai, a commentary on Tanach and the Haggadah by Harav Mordechai Charmon, one of the noted Algerian sages.
2. The sefer is bound together with a 16-leaf pamphlet containing two handwritten lectures on Pirkei Avos. At the end of the first lecture, the author signs his name: Moshe Shlomo of Avisna [Kurdistan].
This manuscript was copied in 1814 based on the sefer printed in Livorno in 1787.
Page 59b contains the scribe’s signature: Gershon ben Dovid Widel. Pages 108b and 120b bear the signature of Yechezkel bar Nissan and note the date 1814.
120: 16 leaves. Page size: 18×10 cm. Light green and blue paper. 3 pages are torn; Page 94 has a black ink stain. Page 95 torn and missing half of the page. Old binding.
